“I’m devoted to raising awareness and sensitivity towards the world’s natural and cultural wonders through storytelling”

When I was younger, I dreamed about being a train operator or an astronaut because I was attracted to discovering the unknown. I became a Geography teacher instead. These days I document the world around me through the eyes of a geographer, a photographer, and a storyteller. Inspired by magazines like National Geographic and blogs like Maptia, The Backpack Journal carries you through my journey around the Globe. I’m devoted to raise awareness and sensitivity towards the world’s natural and cultural wonders through storytelling.

“Daring to follow my heart is a skill that took me a long time to master”

Daring to follow my heart is a skill that took me a long time to master. But finally I gave in. I quit my job to conquer the world :)! The journey took off in Australia, where I’m now working on a little family-run farm in Queensland. A place where I immediatly faced the facts. Australia is experiencing its longest draught in over 100 years (2019). Farmers are struggling, nature is struggeling, people are struggeling… Climate change and overpopulation are subjects of great attention.

At the same time, travelling opens the world and our minds for a deeper connection with nature. The importance of travelling to get a better understanding of the world is underestimated by many. Besides the benefit of gaining a greater understanding, travelling has several health benefits. Therefore, I’ll always encourage others to discover the world and undertake their own journeys and adventures.

With The Backpack Journal I hope to contribute to the world in a positive way. I love to share rich stories which I hope others enjoy and in which one can learn something new about our wonderful world.

Say “hi” if you liked a story, if I was able to inspire you, if you’re around for a beer or if you like to work together!
